1066 Kung Fu Schools

Sifu (teacher) Neil introduced me to Wing Chun awhile ago saying that I would really enjoy it as I really enjoyed martial arts and fitness, but needed a challenge and that Wing Chun was it!

I have attained a blue belt in Judo, attended summer camps and studied a number of wrestling styles and trained in Western Boxing and traditional Wing Chun for a year before switching to the Kung Fu Schools 'Wing Chun', which is fast, effective and is easily the best self defence system I have ever used. In a face to face encounter I would certainly use Wing Chun.

I have assisted in nursery schools, helped with a number of kids projects and taught year seven children trampolining, so I decided to combine my love of Wing Chun with teaching kids and having fun. Thus the launch of the award winning Kung Fu 4 kids program in Hastings began.

I would recommend anyone trying Wing Chun as there are so many things to gain from training in it and you don’t even need to be strong and aggressive, that’s the beauty of it! It teaches anyone how to move effectively and protect themselves against any opponent and the kids program has been specially designed for kids to learn whilst also having fun!

Three years ago I attended a six week self protection workshop for women taught by a friend of the family and I gained so much out of it and enjoyed it so much that the Instructor (Neil) recommended doing the Wing Chun weekly adult classes. Wing Chun provided 75% of what was taught on the course and is the only martial art created by a woman and as such really appealed to me.

After attending a few classes I really got into it and decided that I would make Wing Chun a regular part of my life. The good thing about Wing Chun is that as a system created for a woman (or smaller, weaker person) to beat a man (or bigger, stronger opponent), you don’t have to be big or strong yourself to do it!

Wing Chun is excellent because it can be used and applied in modern day life. The movements aren’t so big so you don’t need lots of room to do it – ideal for pubs and clubs, should a bad situation arise.

I look forward to one day becoming a Black Belt!

I have been training in Wing Chun for just over seven months now.
I started on a recommendation from one of my secondary school teachers, (also a Wing Chun student). Mr Haynes suggested that I try Wing Chun as it would really help me in my personal development and with so many different areas of my life, especially joining the parachute regiment!

Since training with Sifu Neil in Hastings I have become fitter, faster, more co-ordinated and much more confident.

The progressive self development from training in the Wing Chun system has helped to focus my mind and make me mentally and physically stronger. The simultaneous defend and attack logic of Wing Chun is just one of the great things about Wing Chun and why it is used by many of the worlds elite special forces and as such, it seemed perfect for me!

I love training in Wing Chun and the whole ‘family’ feel I get from training with Sifu Neil and my kung fu brothers! We regularly train four times a week (sometimes more!) and through it I have made lots of new friends and feel like I can do anything. I am hoping to get to my 12th student grade and become an Instructor under Neil then go all the way to becoming a master! I eventually want to be able to teach in the army and have my own class.

I originally heard about Wing Chun through a work colleague. I was drawn to Wing Chun rather than other forms of Martial Art because I felt it would strengthen my mental concentration as well as test me physically.

I am a hard worker and find that I have little spare time so I am often tired and I find that I can learn Wing Chun at my own pace without all the aggression and competition I have seen in other arts. I enjoy the company of students in my Wing Chun class as I feel we all get along really well with no rivalry. I would like to continue to achieve a good understanding of self defence while at the same time devoting even more of my free time to work on personal development of fitness and mind and body co-ordination. I would recommend training in Wing Chun to anyone who wants to take control of their life!

I attended the Fighting Fit Lunchtime classes because I had heard good things about the classes from my friends. I thought the idea of training whilst the kids were at school was handy and the class is only an hour long so it wouldn’t kill me!

I liked the idea of learning such an interesting art that is both physically challenging and mentally stimulating too! I train three lunchtimes a week and have since lost weight and started to get my old fitness back, yet without the extreme exercise you get in some martial arts classes, the classes with Neil are friendly and quite relaxed as he says you learn more when you are having fun and enjoying what you do! My biggest surprise is with my balance. It used to be awful, but now it is just so much better, in fact my whole body co-ordination is getting better all the time as Wing Chun trains you to be ambidextrous and work both sides of the body equally and as well as honing your good side you also develop your weaker side.

I thoroughly recommend Wing Chun and training with Neil as you just get so much more from training than you would initially expect!

I saw an advert in the local paper and decided to come along with a friend to start with and as I felt so comfortable in the environment even when my friend stopped training, I stayed as the people are all really friendly and help you enjoy your training.

I wanted to do Wing Chun to build my strength and self confidence and that is what I have achieved since starting. Wing Chun is very beneficial in so many ways and I would recommend it to everybody.
