Wing Chun Principles
When in contact with your opponent, every Wing Chun movement is governed by four fighting principles. You can think of the principles as laws or rules which, if broken, will create a gap in your defence. There is no combat situation that these principles cannot handle if correctly understood, interpreted and applied, and there lies the need for training;

  1. If the way is clear - go forward
  2. If you encounter resistance - stick
  3. If you encounter greater force - yield
  4. It the resistance withdraws - follow

Wing Chun Power Principles
The system also contains four power principles. It is useful to be aware of these principles before training, as they are an inherent part ot the Wing Chun movement;

  1. Give up your own power
  2. Get rid of your opponents power
  3. Use opponents power against them
  4. Add your own power
